Adina (Levitan) Rabinowitz '14
Child Life Specialist
Adina is the Mattie Miracle Cancer Foundation Child Life Specialist at Sinai Hospital. Her primary role is to provide support to children with cancer and other blood disorders. During her day she helps children cope with being in the hospital by preparing them for procedures, supporting them during procedures, educating them about their diagnosis, and providing play and normalization activities. Recently she volunteered for the Bikur Cholim Covid Vaccine Clinic, coming in after work to support children in the community being vaccinated. She brought along a device called a “Buzzy” that distracts the nerve while getting a vaccine and really helped minimize the pain. Adina facilitated the donation of three more of these devices to the clinic. Adina is very passionate about helping children cope in challenging circumstances. She loves to be involved in the frum community, as well as supporting other students looking to enter this field so more children can receive the care they need.
“I feel very grateful that I went to WITS/Maalot right after seminary. I was registered to attend UMBC, but after attending orientation, decided that the environment was not going to work for me. WITS/Maalot helped me get my degree quickly while taking courses that interested me, allowing me to be with my friends and transition from seminary to the outside world.”
