Tzippy (Halpert) Kahan '11
Military Wife
Tzippy Kahan has been a Military wife for the last nine years. Currently she and her family are stationed in Hurlburt Field, FL, where her husband, Avromi, serves as a Military Chaplain, spreading Yiddishkeit to those who serve our country. As a Chaplain, the Kahan’s cook and prepare food for the soldiers as well as organize meals and services for the Yomim Tovim. The last four months, Avromi was deployed to different areas in the Middle East, making things even more challenging. Their four children are all home schooled and they get a lot of family time, with practically no play dates around. “Everything falls on me to teach my children, but we really own our Yiddishkeit, everything is very intentional, and nothing is taken for granted,” shares Tzippy.
“I’m still in touch with Mrs. Rosenbaum. As an out-of-town student, I loved eating at teachers’ homes and seeing their families. Watching someone who inspires you in the classroom living that same way, was a very special opportunity. I'll never forget our class Shabbaton at the Rabenstein’s home.”
